Affiliate Disclosure
We believe you deserve to know exactly how GearKidz works and how we make money — no fine print, no runaround.
FTC-Required Disclosure
GearKidz.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. This means if you click a link on our site and buy something on Amazon, we may receive a small commission — at absolutely no extra cost to you.
What Are Affiliate Links?
Some links on GearKidz point to products on Amazon.com. These are called affiliate links — they contain a small tracking tag (our Amazon Associate ID: iwaystarter1-20) that tells Amazon a visitor came from our site.
You click a product link on GearKidz.
You land on the product page on Amazon.com.
If you buy within 24 hours, Amazon credits us a small commission.
You pay the exact same price — nothing extra, ever.
What We Earn & When
Amazon commissions typically range from 1% to 10% of the sale price depending on the product category. Tech toys and robotics kits usually fall in the 3–4% range. We earn a commission when:
- You click an affiliate link and complete a purchase within the 24-hour Amazon cookie window.
- You add an item to your cart within 24 hours — and complete the purchase within 90 days.
- You purchase any product on Amazon during that session, not just the one we linked.
We do not earn anything if you navigate away, clear cookies, or buy after the 24-hour window expires.
Commissions Never Influence Our Reviews
This is the part that matters most. GearKidz editorial content is 100% independent. Affiliate commissions have zero bearing on which products we feature, how we rank them, or what scores we assign.
- We do not accept payment from brands to write positive reviews.
- We do not inflate ratings because a product pays a higher commission rate.
- Products we criticise or rate poorly still get affiliate links — because you might still want to check them out yourself.
- Our minimum feature threshold is 4★ average on Amazon with substantial verified review volume — that's an editorial standard, not a commercial one.
How We Research Products
Our review process is built around what's best for kids and families — not commissions. Here's what goes into every review:
- Deep analysis of thousands of verified Amazon reviews — processed and synthesized at scale with AI.
- Research spanning manufacturer specs, YouTube demo transcripts, and parenting community forums across the web.
- Side-by-side comparison across age-appropriateness, educational value, build quality, and price — scored and ranked by AI.
- Pattern recognition across hundreds of real user experiences, surfacing what parents and kids actually love (and don't).
Other Affiliate Programs & Partnerships
At this time, Amazon Associates is our primary and only affiliate program. If we ever join additional programs or accept direct sponsorships, we will update this page and clearly label all relevant content.
We may occasionally receive review samples from manufacturers. When this occurs, we disclose it at the top of the relevant review. Free products do not guarantee positive coverage.
How to Spot an Affiliate Link
We want this to be completely transparent. You can identify affiliate links on GearKidz by:
- Links pointing to amazon.com that include the tag
tag=iwaystarter1-20in the URL. - Buttons labelled "View on Amazon", "Check Price", or similar call-to-action text.
- The 🛒 Amazon Deals link in our navigation bar.
Non-affiliate links — such as links to other informational websites, YouTube, or brand homepages — are standard hyperlinks with no tracking tag.
Our Promise to You
Using our affiliate links is the most direct way to support GearKidz — it costs you nothing and keeps the site running. But it is entirely optional. You can always search Amazon directly. Whatever you decide, our reviews stay honest.
